1/31/2011 An Unexpected Suprise...

the 255th day...

today i was typing away at my laptop in the kitchen, working an some various projects when i see the USPS truck pull up. now i know my ps3 is coming home soon, but i know that's done by fedex, so i think nothing of it. next thing i know my doorbell rings...

what the hell?

so i get up, walk to the door, open it, and i'm handed a large package. look at the name, and it says "Talbot" on it. Hmm, i know i just emailed him a few days ago, a reply for a request of personal info for his records.

what the hell does he have up his sleeve today?

so i put it on the table and open it. after fighting through a crumpled paper attack of massive proportions, i come across a manila envelope, heavy with contents.

again, what the hell?

i open the envelope to find two books, both about Kaiju, one of the many subjects my daughter and i like together. both new and really cool. i laugh a bit, knowing that those that sent me these know me a little too well. in one the books i see another envelope.

i smile as i pull it out of the one book.

long story short, the fantastic people at Hexgames recognize my efforts as someone who tries to promote their products and would like to thank me for said efforts.

it's been a real good day! :}

1/27/11 The Creative Process has me Shackled...

the 251st day...

in lieu of the loss of my ps3, i have been able to throw myself into several projects to keep my mind occupied, and i have to say the results are wonderful. so far, i have finished several project that weren't even going to be touched until later this year, including a full power point presentation for some of my associates, and the quality went through the roof when it had my undivided attention. i think the fact that i have my own laptop also factored into the speediness of the completion of the task.

so it sound like i wont get my video game console back until the weekend after the Super Bowl. let's see if i can get a 50 page project done before that occurs.

peace

1/20/11 A technological death in the family.

the 244th day...

so the other day, earlier this week, i was on my video game console, paused the game for a moment, then saw the life of the console end in a collection of lights and beeps. i sat there, stunned and saddened by the sudden death of my video game console, and i have now gone through the beginning of the repair process by sending it back to the manufacturer.

today was a big step in the grieving process, as the coffin came in the mail today, and i had to prepare the body for transport. as you can see, she's ready to go, cold and silent. i hope and pray she comes back to me whole.

so the waiting process begins.

the above link takes you to a site that is selling a game supplement called "American Artifacts 2" by hex games. if you look close in the table of contents, you will see that i am one of the writers. this makes me very happy, and crosses off something on the bucket list. i am glad to say that it was fun and exciting to write something that would get published. thanks to all that were involved.

1/14/11 ...With a Grain of Salt...

the 238th day...

on my work team, we have a bunch of new employees, and many of them are younger then me. not that there's any problem with that, but you know how that goes sometimes. they think of you as the seasoned veteran and often want to know information that you take for granted, so occasionally i get asked the "stupid question". not a big deal for me, i have a tolerance for such things.

however, one of the new guys i have come to know as someone who embellishes his stories...a lot. a LOT lot. it's almost to the point that the stories are a bit ridiculous at times. i think last night at work i overhead him talking to a fellow employee, and he was regaling him about how his buddy of his was training to be a ninja, and how the final test was that he had to go and kill someone. i really hope he was talking about historical fact rather than current events and that i just heard it wrong.

so, he also has a very skewed view of like, telling me that he he can't wait to marry "a rich chick" so he doesn't have to work again, and that he almost had that in his hand once and she had been training to be a vet.

is that the sound of a salt shaker in the distance? shake shake shake.

is he trying to impress me, of just creep me out a bit? i really don't know the case, but whatever it is, it's just weird.

creeped out for now,

MK

PS: a really cool announcement coming sunday. be ready.
