03/31/2011 The Zombie Gameplan

313

Today, i raided my closet for the half dozen movies that fall into my game-plan for zombie movie month, that kicks off tomorrow. i figure with the movies that i have, along with VOD, Netflix, Hulu, Fear.net, and even youtobe, i should be able to pull this off without much problem.

stay tuned tomorrow for some zombie themed posts.

03/31/2011 The Inevitable

the 313th day...

last night, the co-worker that collapsed on Saturday passed away. he was taken off of life support, though it sounds like there was no brain activity throughout this ordeal.

i'm saddened by this loss.

it's strange to me how life works sometimes. i had talked to him earlier in the week before his passing, speaking to him about sports at the upcoming b-ball game between osu and kentucky, and then to see him unresponsive on the floor the day after the game.

i will miss you. via con dios.

03/30/2011 Zombies on the Brain

the 312th day...

i have decided, against better judgment to make April "Mark's Zombie Month, and try to watch 30 zombie movies in 30 days.

why would i do such a thing to myself?

i have a convention coming up in may, and the them is zombie apocalypse, so i have to get ready for zombies, and work them into each of the events that i have planned.

so i have to think like a zombie :P

so, starting Friday, it's a zombie flick each day for 30 days in a row. should be interesting.

03/27/2011 The unexpected

the 309th day...

Yesterday, i went into work, to find that one of the people i work with was in serious condition.

without going into any real specific details, just know that i when i looked over to the truck-dock area, it was like a slow-motion camera shot. i saw people standing around, an empty wheelchair, and a guy on the floor having cpr done to him.

during all of this i heard a conversation behind me, finding out the details about who was on the floor in a matter of seconds. I have to say, it didn't look good, and frankly i'm surprised he pulled through. he was pulled away in an ambulance, and last i heard he's in bad shape but still alive. i'll hear more about him hopefully today or tomorrow.

03/22/2011 Laughter at the Expense of the Dead

the 304th day...

a fake commercial i'm going to be using soon in several games.

"hello, are you recently dead but risen from the grave by various means? Have the years underground left your funeral garb in tatters and turned into old rags? well, now you can shamble down the avenue and look fabulous doing it when you come to...

ZED'S ZOMBIE BOUTIQUE!

Located in downtown Sunnyvale, now you can make your victims run in terror without looking like a fashion victim yourself. yes, our prices down at the boutique are as maimed and slashed as much as your reanimated bodies, and we promise they won't cost you and arm or a leg, cause let's face it, you've probably already lost them.

just mention "BRAINS" at the door and receive a 50% discount on any purchase of $100 or more. that's right, HALF OFF! And you can choose which half to take home with you.

so shamble on down to ZED'S ZOMBIE BOUTIQUE...Where fashion never dies!"

03/21/2011 Means of Transport

the 303rd day...

so my wife and i went out looking for another vehicle for the family, something we have needed for the past three years, after my wife was involved in an accident with an uninsured driver. since then, we have not had the freedom we need as a family, and now we might be on the precipice of ending this situation.

my wife and i spend several hours yesterday, going around town to see the various dealerships of used cars. trying to find a few vehicles in our price range is a rather difficult one, but possible if you're not looking for bells and whistles. i have to laugh a few times because the auto market can be a joke at times, and frankly there are some ridiculous prices for used cars out there.

however, we have found a diamond in the rough. something that fits all of our criteria, and has given me a very good feeling of optimism.

i only hope that it is up to snuff once we get a test drive.

more details to come. winning!

03/18/2011 The Pot Calls the Kettle Black.

The 300th day...

One thing that i know that will never change about human nature is that we think too highly about ourselves, and too lowly about others. there are some things that are a but frustrating about this fact when i have to deal with certain individuals at work.

one thing that constantly bugs me is when someone criticizes somebody's work ethic when they themselves are not as good as they believe to be. some people like to stir the pot, and all it does it put a huge target on your back for someone to say some negative things about you.

some people will never learn, just because they exist under a specific level of delusion, and frankly that's a major flaw of humanity.

then again, i look a japan, an entire country, devastated by some of the most brutal natural disasters stacked one on top of the other...

and yet there is no looting, no riots...

why is that? it's because their entire culture thinks about others before themselves, and their behavior is based on honor not self worth.

perhaps we as Americans should take a lesson from the Japanese.

03/14/2011 pretty good weekend

the 296th day...

Saturday and Sunday were really good days, and it was good to interact with some people outside of work. we stayed out until midnight on Saturday, which is something i rarely do now, and Sunday i played a few games with my friends and have pizza with them.

so that's what it's like to have a good weekend!

3/10/2011 Hey America!

the 292nd day...

Hey America! I just got a phone call from the forefathers...they want their country back!

3/8/2011 Mr Monday Cause and Effect.

the 290th day...

Warning: another post involving me bx+c#ing about work.

so today, i was helping on the floor, working with some co workers on the flight that we send out later in the morning. not to get too technical here, but where you build something for the flight, you have to consider curvature of the inside of the plane. so i'm helping my co workers, then move on to something else. a few minuted later i'm called over to the same structure and i am chewed out for the lack of curvature on this structure.

i take a look at the structure, and find that there are now three shower doors on the sides of the structure that weren't there before, and even more so, they're not due to move out until the end of the week. i retort that i did not put these on, then it was pointed out to me that Mr. Monday put them on the structure.

so now i'm taking heat for his lack of foresight? no. never again. my job is to move freight correctly and without incident. i am not a babysitter, but i will be voicing some opinion tomorrow.

3/3/2011 Not Funny

the 285th day...

Dead comedians are no laughing matter.

the reason i say this is because one of my friends on his social network page posted a video of Mitch Hedberg doing a bit of his comedy routine on one of the late night TV shows. Now i had heard of him prior and i had thought that he had just slipped away into obscurity again, but now, i found out he overdosed on drugs...six yeas ago.

so you can add him to the list of talented comedians who lives have been cut short with an untimely death. Belushi, Kinison, Hartman, Farley, Radner, and all the others.

how i miss the joy you used to spread.
